This is the first time I've sent a piece for the Trunk Show. Have you sent yours yet? There is still lots of time!
Did I post this upside down? Who knows, maybe it's side ways? Now to wrap it up and get it in the mail to Eileen.

Color Wheel Of Emotion
Hi all--just thought I'd share a photo of my piece that was juried into "Color Wheel Of Emotion". I was so thrilled because this is my first SAQA exhibit. It will be traveling with the Mancuso show which goes all over the US. I was beginning to think I'd never get into a SAQA exhibit; the lesson is don't give up!
I printed the image on 13x19 EQ Printables printer sheets but ended up trimming off about 4 inches. The image is two of my photos layered together. I extended the colors in the photo out using fabrics from my stash to create the area around the photo.
I'd love to see what ya'll are working on.

Elaine Walizer receives Award
Elaine Walizer received first place in the Mixed Techniques category of the Hot Springs Area Quilt Guild show on July 12-13. She made this quilt to showcase both the vibrant African fabrics and embroidered blocks purchased from Tambani (a cooperative of South African Venda tribeswomen). The fabrics dictated the quilting. The quilt illustrates that simple 'framed square' and 'square in a square' blocks can be effective and even striking. Elaine said that working on this quilt was a joy. The quilt construction is primarily piecing with some applique embellishment; the outer setting triangles and border as well as the sashings are made from commercial fabric mfg in the USA.

Trembley to participate in Omaha Fashion Week
Margie Trembley, Arkansas native, now living in Neveda, was honored to have been selected to have 8 fascinator hats modeled on presentation boxes during Omaha Fashion Week on Aug 22, one of the top ten fashion week events in the country. Her hats are all original designs and hand or machine felted using wool roving and various embellishments.
In order to participate in this event, Margie had to be interviewed by a group of highly respected fashion and style professionals from Omaha. Margie says, "Having never done anything like this before, it was a real educational experience for me. Getting the critiques afterwards gave me a great feeling and showed me areas for improvement."

A look back and looking forward
I am finalizing the schedule and will be emailing our Call for Entries for our upcoming Regional Show, Southern Voices, that will be at the Butler Center in the River Market area of Little Rock. Our show will be on display March 14th - May 25th, 2014. The exhibition is open to SAQA members only. However, our one-day conference on May 26th will be open to non-members.
I hope that we are able to use our new blog to keep each other informed, to attract new members, and to share enthusiasm as we prepare for the exhibition and conference. Included are three pictures from our 2012 exhibition at this same venue.
