SAQA MS "Pod" Meeting

At our fiber art meeting today we showed our "R" challenge pieces. Can you find a capital "R" in each piece? There is at least one in every piece even though some may be obscure.

We also viewed the SAQA Trunk G and shared our thoughts about some of the pieces.

SAQA's Trunk G at WAQG

Yesterday I shared SAQA's Trunk G with the West Alabama Quilter's Guild. This is a warm and enthusiastic guild with lots of talent. I enjoyed my time there very much. Thank you, WAQG.

Grace Wever Exhibit in Gadsden, AL

Congratulations to Grace Weaver, a SAQA member from North Alabama.

Grace says,

"I was invited to have a solo exhibition at the Gadsden Museum of Art and History at the end of 2015. It is their annual "Alabama's Finest Artist" series, and the exhibition will fill the first floor of the museum (about 500 linear feet). The show title will be "Within the Walls, Beyond the Gates" and will also include works from previous exhibitions, plus what I will create this year.

It will open December 1 and run through most of January. There is an opening reception Sunday December 6 from 2-4 PM. If there is interest in seeing the exhibition, maybe we could have a meeting sometime in December or January, and I could give a group tour. Those in north Alabama might want to attend the opening reception as well.

You can see some of my work on my website which is weverart.net.
Also, on the website are some images of my exhibition at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center in Pueblo, Colorado. This exhibition will be considerably enlarged for the Gadsden show.

Pod Meeting in Madison, MS

This group of fiber artists met on Saturday in the home of Jackie W. We enjoyed drinks and a snack before our beginning time of 10:30. Jackie welcomed us all and our co-rep, Julia Graber, gave a blurb on SAQA. As we each introduced ourselves we showed a piece or two of fiber art. We enjoyed a delicious lunch together and discussed meeting again sometime in February.
