Gadsden Museum of Art & History

The exhibition at the Gadsden Museum of Art & History held a reception Friday evening Sept. 5. Outside the streets of Gadsden were alive with music, antique cars, food, and lots of folks in town for First Friday. The SAQA pieces were beautifully exhibited in the main region of the museum, well lit and with generous spacing between pieces. Grace Wever and Connie Carrington attended the reception. Visitors asked good questions and were very interested in understanding processes, techniques, and inspiration. The museum director and the volunteers are delightful.

Below are some photos from the reception, which show the excellent spacing. (Apologies for some reflections from glass surfaces between the photographer and the pieces. I wanted to show how pieces related to each other.)

Connie, thanks for posting the pictures from the exhibit. It sounds like it was well receved, with the First Friday event. So glad you could attend and share information about our art quilts.

Yes, thank you Carrie for sharing. It is interesting to see the exhibit here on the blog and hear about the reception.

Thanks, Connie--great job with photos; the space available for the show was huge. The museum itself is quite interesting, an old well-renovated building. The First Friday event in the city is amazing; they block off the main and side streets and everyone is on the hoof. Shops are open and shoppers are browsing; restaurants and bars open, and everyone seems to be really enjoying the city. Didn't realize how interesting a city this is. The cultural center is right next door to the museum, with a dance performance center, an indoor restaurant/cafe that was also open for dinner. Be sure to attend next year; or better, drive over/down for the First Friday event in early October before the show closes....
